REGIONAL FESTIVALS

Every region in Connecticut has its own Regional Band every year, which is chosen by audition only.  Regional School District 6 is part of the Northern Region.  Interested students in grades 6-8 are able to participate.  Students prepare an audition piece and scales to perform in front of a judge.  The student also does a short sight-reading piece.  If the student receives a high enough score, he/she will be chosen to participate in the Northern Region Band.

What is Regionals?

For your child, the time commitment is great - they must practice every day to prepare the required materials to the best of their ability.

The audition is only one day (usually in January).  If he/she gets accepted into the band, the commitment is only one weekend long.  Rehearsal is on a Friday and the concert is the next day.

What is the time commitment?

NO!
You and your child can sit down and talk to decide whether you would like to be in the band.  It is an amazing experience, but sometimes the audition is enough.

If my child gets an offer, does he/she have to participate in the band?
