SOLO REPERTOIRE

What solo piece are you working on?

*Play through a phrase or two, 8-16 measures.

*Repeat over and over again guided by a metronome
*Put back into context and see if you improved.
*Play it multiple times

BAND MUSIC

Which section of which piece is the focus for this practice session? Name musical elements to be practiced, too.

*Start by playing a chunk of the music.
*As yourself if you like what you are hearing? If not, how can we practice it?
*What exactly makes this music interesting? Which musical elements?
*Am I playing the music as the composer intended it to be played?
*Isolate the tricky spot to be worked on.
*Multiple successful repetitions.
*Put it back into context and play with a recording if you'd like!
